Summary

What happened, as the record shows.

On March 3, 2007, a suitcase sold exclusively at Walmart washed up on the beach at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck, New York. Inside was the torso of a woman believed to be African American or Latina, between 35 and 50 years old and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. She had a tattoo of two red cherries on a green stem on her right breast, and her cause of death was a stab wound to the torso. The suitcase also held clothing including a red camisole with a Spanish language label, and scraps of paper that formed part of a calendar showing the word "cinco" and the phrase "begin to live." Weeks later, her legs washed ashore on Long Island and were matched to the torso. She remains unidentified.
