Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Traci Pittman Kegley, 30, newly divorced and due to start a new job the next day, was last seen on April 26, 1998, after leaving her parents' home in Eclectic, Alabama, with her toddler daughter and stopping at a gas station. Her white Geo Storm was found abandoned on a rural Elmore County road, engine idling, with her daughter still strapped inside and her personal belongings left behind. Police believe she was murdered, but no remains have been recovered and no one has been charged. In 2019 a tip prompted a multi agency search of a 300 acre wooded property, with no reported recovery.
