Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Sydney Kaitlyn West, 19, grew up in Pleasanton, California and was living in the Bay Area in the fall of 2020 after deferring her start at the University of California, Berkeley. On the evening of September 29, 2020 she had a lengthy phone conversation with her father and planned to speak with him again the next day. At about 6:45 a.m. on September 30 she took a rideshare to Crissy Field and was captured on surveillance walking toward the Golden Gate Bridge in dense fog and wildfire smoke. Her backpack was later found near the bridge and turned over to San Francisco police, and her cell phone has not been located. San Francisco police said they found no evidence of foul play in her disappearance. She remains missing, and no arrest appears in the sources reviewed.
