Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Samuel Boehlke, 8, of Portland, Oregon, ran ahead of his father near Cleetwood Cove in Crater Lake National Park on October 14, 2006, and vanished. His father searched for nearly two hours before flagging down a motorist for help. Nearly 200 searchers covered roughly 3,000 to 4,000 acres in snow over the following week and found no trace. Samuel had a high-functioning form of autism and a fear of loud noises, so searchers could not use horns or whistles. He was never found, and no foul play finding has been reported.
