Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Michele Gloria Adam, 36, worked as a clerk at Kona Circuit Court. On June 13, 1998, she drove away from the home she shared with her husband at Milolii Beach Lots in South Kona, telling him she needed her space; her husband assumed she had gone to the couple's second home in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Kau. He reported her missing on June 17, and said he had found her 1997 Toyota Celica parked at the second home two days after she was last seen. In January 1999 detectives reclassified the disappearance as a murder case and conducted a two-day search for her remains at both properties; the search found no evidence. A suspicious fire destroyed the Milolii home in October 1998, four months after she vanished; whether it was connected was never determined. Her husband later left Hawaii. No one has been charged, and the case remains unsolved. Sources spell her first name both Michele and Michelle; police releases use Michele.
