Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Katheryne Scott Eggleston, 22, had recently graduated from Oregon State University and worked in telecommunications sales for Allnet, a company based in Lake Oswego. On August 2, 1993, after a morning business meeting in Portland, she was scheduled to make sales appointments in the city. She was last seen around 2:15 p.m. in the former Port of Portland building at 700 Northeast Multnomah Street, where witnesses saw her making phone calls in the lobby and said she appeared nervous; a client said he saw her exiting an elevator in the company of an unknown man. The next morning her unlocked silver Volkswagen Golf was found in an industrial parking lot about nine miles away, with her purse and most belongings inside but her passport never found. Investigators explored a theory that she fled to avoid testifying in connection with an elder sister's upcoming tax-evasion sentencing; her family repeatedly denied any connection. As of 2025 her whereabouts remain unknown. No arrests have been reported.
