Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Between April 8 and May 7, 1992, an unidentified gunman shot six store clerks in small retail shops along the Interstate 70 corridor in Indiana, Missouri, and Kansas. The victims, mostly young women working alone, were shot with the same .22-caliber pistol, and little cash was stolen. Composite sketches were released and a multi-state task force was formed, but the killer was never identified and investigators have not publicly named any suspects. Shootings of three more store clerks in Texas in 1993 and 1994, one with a survivor, were also suspected to be his work.
