Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
Georgia Leah Moses, 12, was last seen at about 10 p.m. on August 13, 1997, near Sebastopol Road and Dutton Avenue in Santa Rosa with an unidentified man driving a small white four-door car. A sheriff's sketch never led to an identification. On August 22, 1997, a CalTrans worker found her body off Highway 101 near Petaluma Boulevard South, and she was identified on August 26. An autopsy found she died of asphyxia, likely strangulation or smothering, on August 13 or 14. In April 2026 the governor renewed a $50,000 state reward, with authorities stating no suspect has been identified.
