Summary
What happened, as the record shows.
On February 17, 2004, Absecon police were called to a marshy area off Route 30 after New Jersey Department of Corrections personnel doing a roadside cleanup found human remains inside a laundry bag. An autopsy determined the remains belonged to an adult male and ruled the manner of death a homicide. Investigators believed he had been dead for at least two months before he was found, and no clothing or personal items were recovered. The New Jersey State Police Office of Forensic Services produced a clay facial reconstruction of the man. In 2023, advanced DNA testing obtained by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office indicated he was potentially of South Asian descent, specifically from India or Pakistan, but no additional leads developed. He has never been identified.
